Hey, my wedding is Saturday! CBS News Texas has reported that the parent company of Al's Formal Wear, which started in Fort Worth 61 years ago, has closed its five DFW stores and informed employees it is ceasing operations.

The Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership (FWEDP) announced the hiring of Jessica Heer as Executive Vice President, effective August 28. A seasoned veteran in the economic development space, Heer will be joining FWEDP from her current role as Senior Vice President for Regional Marketing at the Dallas Regional Chamber (DRC).

The D-FW, San Antonio and Orlando metropolitan areas had the nation’s tightest housing supplies in the second quarter, according to a new analysis from the Bank of America Institute. The three metro areas have had rapid population growth with already-stretched housing supplies. D-FW’s population grew about 0.5% in the second quarter compared to a year before, and it had a lower-than-average ratio of housing units to population, according to the report. (DMN)

S. companies pay their software engineers a media compensation of at least $400,000, five pay at least half a million dollars and OpenAI, the fast-growing artificial intelligence startup behind ChatGPT, pays nearly $1 million. A Consumer Financial Protection Bureau rule requiring banks to gather small-business loan data hit a roadblock in federal court, putting the rule itself in jeopardy. The rule would require all small-business lenders that make more than 100 loans/year to report the self-identified demographic data of the borrower.
