Berkshire Hathaway announced it would acquire home builder Taylor Morrison in an $8.5-billion deal, the sixth largest acquisition in its history. In the space, Berkshire owns premium real estate and home services, Clayton manufactured homes and Acme Brick. (FYI - Top two acquisitions: Precision Castparts in 2016 for $37 billion and Fort Worth-based BNSF Railway for $34 billion in 2010. Largest holding: Approximately $58 billion of Apple stock.)

Russell Henley ($1.78 million) birdied the final three holes to force a playoff with Eric Cole, then made it four in a row with a 5-footer on the first extra hole at Colonial to win the Charles Schwab Classic. Henley’s late surge denied Cole, 37, his first PGA Tour win. Last year's champ, Ben Griffin was one shot short of the playoff and a chance to be the only player other than Ben Hogan to win consecutive Colonials.
