Texas lawmakers are looking to expand a pilot program launched in Tarrant County by Child Care Associates, which directed millions in federal funding to 19 early learning centers, helping stabilize operations, raise wages and lower costs for families. The Child Care Innovation Pilot would aim to assist an estimated 52 childcare programs in the first phase with workforce development boards in Tarrant County and North Central Texas as partners.

Dallas-based HKS and Hensel Phelps of Greeley, Co., have been selected to develop the west Fort Worth campus of the University of Texas at Arlington. Hensel Phelps has done several projects with the UT System and HKS is well known in the area for its work on AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field and TCU’s Amon G. Carter Stadium.

Landman lands another degree: Texas Christian University announced it was awarding an honorary doctor of letters degree to Taylor Sheridan for his “artistic achievements as a writer, director and producer.” Last year, the Paschal High School grad received an honorary degree from Texas State University. Sheridan also is the commencement speaker for The University of Texas' class of 2025. 

A historic Hill Country Ranch owned by the family behind the iconic Mrs. Baird’s bakeries is back on the market and it’s $1.4 million less. The Baird Ranch, a scenic, 762-acre property located just west of Pedernales Falls State Park near Johnson City, has returned to the market with a reduced asking price of $11,500,000.

A federal judge dismissed a class-action lawsuit against American Airlines and uniform manufacturer Twin Hill, ending nearly eight years of litigation over claims that company uniforms caused severe health reactions among employees at AA.

An American Airlines customer’s proposed class action was dismissed by a federal appeals court because she failed to show the airline was unjustly enriched when she paid for travel assistance from a third party. Kelsey Trotta couldn’t demonstrate any inequity stemming from the airline receiving fees from her purchase of travel assistance from Allianz Global Assistance. 

D-FW International Airport selected Outsight for a $17.2 million LiDAR deployment to enhance safety, operations and passenger flow with Spatial Intelligence. Airport officials said "the initiative represents an unprecedented implementation of advanced sensing technology, positioning the global transportation hub at the forefront of airport innovation and operational excellence."

RaidoHub, with headquarters in Fort Worth and Akron, Ohio, has launched its innovative data-driven forecasting software designed for airports to streamline operations to benefit passengers. Jay Dixson is CEO.

The Metroplex Civic & Business Association released its March crime report and downtown Dallas recorded a score seven times higher than downtown Fort Worth. Motor vehicle thefts were rampant, occurring 18 times more frequently in Dallas. The Dallas Express has more. 

While most schools are scurrying away from any DEI initiatives, the University of Texas at Arlington is planning all-gender restrooms in several buildings after the school’s Student Senate passed a resolution to update existing restrooms on campus.

Free weekend concerts begin Friday night at Levitt Pavilion Arlington. Josh Weathers is the opening night headliner at the open-air stage and there will be local food trucks and vendor markets on site.

Arlington, the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the University of Texas at Arlington have partnered to deliver free groceries in east Arlington as part of a pilot program testing the efficiency of autonomous deliveries. It is funded by the Department of Energy. 

Despite parents’ protests, a Maryland county school system has refused to remove a book about two men who fall in love. So far, lower courts have agreed with the school. Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear arguments.
