A&M approves another $260M for FW; Disclosure of airline fees blocked; YouTube video derails 16-year-old's life.

Texas A&M regents gave the go-ahead for planning and design of its second building in Fort Worth. The building could cost up to $260 million, including 150,000 gross-square-feet of offices and lab space. The remainder would be for private sector partners and parking. Among the A&M tenants of that building will be the Transportation Institute, Engineering Experiment Station, Engineering Extension Service, AgriLife Research and the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

A U.S. appeals court blocked the U.S. Transportation Department's rule on upfront disclosure of airline fees pending a full review. In April, DOT ordered airlines and ticket agents to disclose service fees alongside the airfares.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has provided Texas Wesleyan University a $500,000 grant for a trauma care specialty curriculum in its nurse anesthesia graduate program. The two-year grant provides funds for the creation of a specialized trauma track — one of the first in the country.

UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s Department of Internal Medicine & Geriatrics has been awarded a 5-year, $5-million grant to educate and train health care workers to care for older adults, with a focus on rural, tribal and underserved communities. Jennifer Severance is the principal investigator. 

Fort Worth-based Stewardship Wealth announced it has transitioned its $325 million in assets under advisement from LPL Financial Holdings to Arkadios Holdings of Atlanta. Chris Albertson is CEO of Stewardship. 

Southlake-based OncoNano — a fusion of oncology and nanotechnology — is targeting a naturally occurring process that allows cancer cells to grow quickly. It’s a new approach to treatment that was developed by Tian Zhao, PhD, vice president of research and development. Dallas Innovates takes a deeper dive. 

Book ‘em Danno: As 817 Biz reported last month, Fort Worth council members announced they will vote Aug. 13 to buy The Center for Transforming Lives building at 512 W. 4th St. as the future home of the city's downtown library. Funds for the $6.5 million purchase will come from the sale of the former public library building.
