James Litinsky, CEO of Fort Worth-based MP Materials, says the U.S. is in a new “Cold War” with China over rare earth metals. He warned investors that the “vast majority of projects being promoted today simply will not work at virtually any price.”

Leading investment firm KKR has struck a deal to sell Fort Worth-based aerospace and defense hardware maker Novaria Group to Arcline Investment Management. The transaction is valued at $2.2 billion. After KKR’s initial investment in 2020, Novaria has more than tripled in size, completing 13 strategic add-on acquisitions. Today, it serves 3,000-plus customers globally and employs more than 1,600 in the U.S.

Bedford-based Unleashed Brands signed a lease for a new 50,000-square-foot headquarters located at 600 E. Las Colinas Blvd in Irving. Project Suncatcher, a Google program, aims to create an artificial intelligence data center in low Earth orbit with computing spread across a tightly knit array of satellites. The company is funding the project as a long-term “moonshot.” A pair of prototype satellites carrying Google’s proprietary AI chips are scheduled to launch by early 2027.

The Texas Department of Transportation has updated the travel upgrade undertaken of its significant bridge and roadway expansion project on state highway 199 over Lake Worth. Work is expected to be completed during spring 2026.

The Supreme Court rejected a call to overturn its landmark decision that legalized same-sex marriages nationwide. The justices, without comment, turned away an appeal from Kim Davis, the former Kentucky court clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples after the high court’s 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges.

Tandy Leather Factory reported a loss of $1.4 million, or 17 cents per share, during its third quarter. The Fort Worth leather goods retailer posted revenue of $17.3 million.

With electric vehicle demand sluggish, Ford is considering scrapping the EV version of its bestselling F-150 truck. Once hailed as “a smartphone that can tow,” the F-150 EV has been a $13-billion money loser since 2023.

Running around too much or getting too hot used to trigger seizures several times a week for 8-year-old Sebastian Ruiz. But since he started an investigational treatment through a clinical study at Cook Children’s, the seizures happen less often -- once or twice a month – and don’t last as long. Today, there is hope for Sebastian, one of about 20,000 people in the U.S. with a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome.
