The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a fixed-price contract valued at $169.4 million to Chicago-based Walsh Construction for work at the North Bypass Channel in Fort Worth. The channel is a major element of the Modified Central City Flood Risk Management Project. Mobilization and initial earth moving are expected by early spring, with a projected completion date in 2029.

Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate announced the sale of The Hotel at Avalon, a 330-room luxury hotel in Alpharetta's award-winning mixed-use destination north of Atlanta. Crescent made a high-conviction purchase in September 2020 amid unprecedented hospitality industry uncertainty because of COVID-19.

The Maternal Health Accelerator, created to address high maternal mortality and pregnancy-related complications, is receiving more than $4 million from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Expanded services will be led by TCU's Burnett School of Medicine and UT Southwestern Medical Center, and includes other community partners such as MHMR. The program connects pregnant and post-partum women with a range of services. 

Canada-based transformer manufacturer Hammond Power Solutions announced plans to establish manufacturing operations at an unidentified site in Fort Worth by the end of 2027, with full production early in 2028. The company's estimated $35.4-million investment includes the lease and equipping of the facility that will produce large standard and custom-engineered transformers.

China's Geely has developed a system that can charge an electric vehicle in just four minutes, the industry's fastest speed. Geely also introduced a next-generation electric vehicle battery and an upgraded ​Galaxy E5 pure-electric SUV as it seeks to revive sales in China, ​which have declined for 11 consecutive months.

Lockheed Martin Grand Prairie was awarded a $16,572,366 modification contract to support the anti-jam application for precision-guided munitions and rockets. The modification brings the total value of the contract to $238,695,907. Work will be performed in Grand Prairie with an estimated completion date of Sept. 24, 2027.

At its meeting Tuesday, the Fort Worth is set to accept the donation of Quarry Falls, a roughly 12-acre area of parkland near 4800 Decatur Road that has had $1.13 million in improvements installed by the developer, Greystar. The original Greystar project was to include condos, hotels, a beach, a splash park and a Ferris wheel. Instead, it will be an apartment community with a park.

A federal jury in Fort Worth convicted a 64-year-old Frisco licensed professional counselor for his role in a $26-million health care fraud of military insurer TRICARE. Kevin Curry, the owner and operator of three purported health clinics, including Acuity TMS of Fort Worth, paid more than $5.5 million in kickbacks to convince active-duty service members, veterans and their family members to consent to Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation therapy they did not qualify for and, in many instances, did not receive. Curry, who falsely held himself out to be a medical doctor, used actual doctors’ credentials without their knowledge and consent to bill TRICARE as part of the scheme.

Rave Restaurant Group, which operates the Pie Five Pizza and Pizza Inn brands from headquarters in The Colony, disclosed in a filing to the SEC that CEO Brandon Solano filed a formal complaint to the Rave board's audit committee accusing the board of directors of discrimination and harassment after it failed to meet his requests for a higher salary.
