Grocer H-E-B is adding support in Fort Worth for its north Texas stores. Mabrie Jackson, managing director of public affairs for H-E-B and Central Market, told the Dallas Business Journal the site is to be 139,000 square feet and a state filing shows it at 6900 AWG Way. That is southeast of the I-20 and 35W intersection. H-E-B continues to ramp up after opening its first D-FW store in Frisco in 2022.

Fort Worth City Manager Jay Chapa announced former Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia as the city's next police chief, replacing Neil Noakes, who retired in February. Garcia served as Dallas Police Chief from 2021 to 2024, when he announced his retirement from law enforcement and took on an assistant city manager role in Austin, where he oversaw public safety. He will be formally announced in a press conference today. 

Wistron, a Taiwanese manufacturing and technology company, confirmed what has been talked about since Spring -- it will have two buildings within AllianceTexas with approximately 1.1 million square feet. Its estimated spend is $761 million while providing 800 jobs. 

All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, which declared bankruptcy in 2021 after having been evicted by a court decision, is starting anew, according to a press announcement. "We are extremely proud to announce that All Saints’ Episcopal Church has found a new home after eviction, bankruptcy, and many years of searching. Groundbreaking will take place Sunday, September 7, at 5:00 p.m. at 6036 Locke Avenue off of Camp Bowie. Together, we will consecrate this new space and celebrate the bright future of All Saints’."

With Democrats back to make a quorum, the Texas House passed legislation designed to enhance Republican chances in congressional races. The Texas Senate Committee on Redistricting voted to advance the House bill to the full Senate with a favorable recommendation, setting up a likely vote today.The proposed map would re-shape districts to reflect population growth while giving Republicans a strong advantage in five additional districts.

A Texas federal judge temporarily blocked from taking full effect a state law requiring public schools to display donated posters of the Ten Commandments in classrooms. The ruling, for now, only applies to 11 Texas school districts named in the lawsuit. U.S. District Judge Fred Biery concluded the law favors Christianity over other faiths, is not neutral with respect to religion and is likely to interfere with families' “exercise of their sincere religious or non-religious beliefs in substantial ways.”

Hertz Global Holdings said its car sales unit would partner with Amazon.com’s automotive retail platform, Amazon Autos, to sell pre-owned vehicles. They will start offering their service within 75 miles of Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle. Amazon launched Amazon Autos last year to expand the online retail platform’s services to include used and certified pre-owned vehicles, with participating dealers in more than 130 U.S. cities.

Medical City Arlington has completed its $144-million expansion, which includes a new patient tower, four specialty operating rooms, a modernized main entrance and expanded visitor lobby.

Lender Truist is targeting high-growth markets such as Austin, Miami and D-FW in a push that involves hiring more advisers, refining its AI tools, adding 100 branches and renovating 300.
