The stock of Arlington-based D.R. Horton zoomed 22.33% after the company boosted its stock re-purchase outlook and posted stronger-than-expected Q3 earnings and revenue. The company is the largest homebuilder in the U.S.  

Shares of Lockheed Martin tumbled 10.94% after it reported lower second-quarter earnings because of more than $1.6 billion in program-related charges. The company posted revenue of $18.2 billion, missing the consensus estimate of $18.54 billion, and net earnings plunged to $342 million, or $1.46 a share, down from $1.6 billion, or $6.85 a share, a year ago. The decline was driven by significant write-downs tied to aerospace and helicopter programs.

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a $999-million, sole source, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract by the U.S. Air Force for production support of the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) and Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) systems. The contract covers the entire life-cycle through 2030, including system upgrades, integration, production, sustainment, management and logistical support.

Embraer, which recently opened an aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Perot Field Alliance Airport, finished the second quarter of 2025 with a $29.7-billion backlog, a record high. 

Alden Global Capital has made an offer to buy DallasNews, which agreed to be purchased by Hearst Corp July 10. DallasNews is the owner of the The Dallas Morning News and marketing agency Medium Giant. Alden’s all-cash bid values DallasNews at $16.50 per share, 18% higher than the all-cash offer of $14 from Hearst. 

Grapevine-based GameStop made a trademark filing to the United States Patent and Trademark Office's site July 16. It indicates GameStop is likely developing an online marketplace for buying, selling and displaying collectible cards, complete with features such as authentication, payment processing and a digital animation that mimics ripping open booster packs.

Paramount Global and the creators of South Park have struck a $1.5B global streaming deal, according to the Los Angeles Times. The animated adult comedy series is from Park County, the media and entertainment company founded by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The duo signed for $300M a year for five years and has agreed to produce 10 episodes a year.

An Appellate court has upheld the Texas law limiting cities' enforcement of local ordinances. The 2023 law, previously ruled unconstitutional by a Travis County judge, prevents cities from enforcing ordinances that don’t align with broad swaths of state law.

Fort Worth-based Cummings Electrical will relocate and expand its headquarters to a full building at Centreport Tech Center (14770 Trinity Blvd.), signing a 66,882-square-foot lease with a 10-year term and $4-million renovation plan. Jason Finch, Erik Blais and Michael W. Spain represented the landlord, Fort Capital LP, which is sharing the upgrade cost with the tenant.

Southwest Airlines announced a Jan. 27, 2026 start date for its debut of assigned seating, which will end the airline’s long-standing open-seat boarding. Options for seat selection will be at the time of booking.
