The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents approved its 2026–2030 System Capital Plan — $6.6 billion that includes $1.925 billion in proposed projects during the next five years. There is an additional $24 million for the Law & Education Building in Fort Worth, bringing that project total to $227.5M.
The University of Texas leads Texas college football programs with an estimated $2.3 billion valuation, followed by Texas A&M at more than $1 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. Texas Tech and TCU also placed in the national top 50. Rankings are based on 2023 federal data compiled by the Knight-Newhouse College Athletics Database.
Fort Worth-based Brazos Midland Processing (Brazos Midstream) will open a 300-million cubic feet per day natural gas processing plant in Martin County that will create $185 million in capital investment. The project is a qualifier under the Texas Jobs, Energy, Technology and Innovation program. The Midland Basin is a vital component of the Permian Basin, where Brazos Midstream owns and operates an extensive natural gas gathering and processing footprint. Brad Iles is the CEO of Brazos Midstream.
ALTO Real Estate Funds has announced the Sept. 15 start of ALTO Carter Park 35, a $40+ million, 20-acre Class A industrial development located along I-35W in south Fort Worth. The 342,790-square-foot project is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2026.

D-FW is solidifying its position as the nation’s second-largest data center hub, with 575 megawatts of leasing in the first half of 2025, according to D CEO. Industry experts say the market could quadruple in size, though space remains tight, with vacancy near 3%. More than 1,000 megawatts are under construction—most already leased—and nearly 4,000 megawatts are planned. Low electricity costs and renewable energy west of Fort Worth are fueling the next wave of development, shifting growth toward Abilene. Austin-based JetRock Analytics, a solutions provider in energy and analytics, has become part of Whitley Penn, a full-service accounting and advisory firm headquartered in Fort Worth. JetRock specializes in creating data systems and tailored analytics that help organizations unlock growth and efficiency, primarily in the oil and gas industry.
Cat City Grill, a Magnolia Avenue mainstay since 2010, will have its last day of service Sept. 28, the restaurant's owners, Martin and Denise Thompson, wrote on its website. The Thompsons said it was "the right time for us to turn the page."
Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has been awarded a contract with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to develop a transportation management system to enhance mobility and infrastructure management in D-FW. SwRI’s technology enables transportation agencies to alert drivers and traffic managers to real-time road conditions and closures to improve safety, routing and emergency responses.
