The Supreme Court gave Texas permission to jail and prosecute at the state level migrants suspected of crossing the U.S. southern border without authorization, greenlighting the enforcement of SB4, which the Biden administration has called unconstitutional. Denying a request from the Justice Department, the law takes effect while the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit considers the measure's legality.

Non-profit Buckner Retirement Services purchased The Stayton at Museum Way, a senior community off West Seventh near Trinity Park. The Stayton is 11 stories featuring 188 independent living units, 42 assisted living units, 20 memory care units and 46 skilled nursing units. The seller is Lifespace Communities. 

Craig Crossland has been selected as John V. Roach Dean of Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business. He will start June 30. Crossland has been senior associate dean for academic programs at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business.

This Friday, the Texas Medical Board will consider language to clarify what qualifies as a medical exemption with regard to the state's abortion law. A request from judges for "clear guidance" has come to fruition.

ESPN has agreed to a six-year extension worth $7.8 billion to remain the sole TV partner for the College Football Playoff. Earlier this year, ESPN agreed to an eight-year TV deal to cover 40 NCAA championships. Negotiations are underway with the NBA and WNBA for new TV contracts in 2025.

  • TH Logistics Fund I, a joint venture between Chicago-based Timber Hill Group and Champion Realty Advisors, sold a 40-acre industrial outdoor storage yard at 5301 Wilbarger St. in Fort Worth. The buyer was a special purpose entity owned by Green Courte Partners in Chicago. 

  • Stonelake Capital Partners acquired 4400 Diplomacy Road, a 120,000-square-foot distribution building in CentrePort Business Park near the D-FW International Airport. Cushman & Wakefield’s Jim Carpenter, Jud Clements, Robby Rieke and Madeleine Supplee represented the seller. The Stonelake Capital Partners team of Coleman Brown, Michael Massad, Will Thomas and Keontae Burns oversaw the acquisition.

  • IPA Capital Markets arranged $37M in financing for Dane Park, a luxury, 392-unit multi-family property in Grapevine. Brian Eisendrath and Cameron Chalfant of IPA Capital Markets secured the financing for a private investor. 

  • Vista Property Company bought Kohl‘s-anchored Lake Worth Marketplace, a 200,000-square-foot strip mall at 6034 Azle Avenue in Lake Worth. JLL represented the seller. Barry Brown, Chris Gerard, Erin Lazarus, Keenan Ryan and Ben Pollack negotiated the deal.

  • A vacant property in west Fort Worth will be transformed into a three-story office building. An $8 million, 29,000-square-foot structure at 5401 Birchman Ave. is a development of Muse Capital, a real estate company based in Wichita Falls, according to a filing with the state. The project holder's name is Birchman Office Development. Joseph A. Ross of Wichita Falls is the architect of record. Construction is slated to begin May 6 and be completed by May 25, 2025.
