Joby Aviation, headquartered in Santa Cruz, CA., signed a lease for 45,000 square feet at Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport, the first significant eVTOL manufacturer presence in north Texas. The site will serve as its base for the first eVOTL flights across D-FW. In addition, Atoms and Joby formed a strategic partnership to acquire and develop next-generation transportation hubs in markets where Joby has early operations for the White House-backed program. Atoms was founded by ex-Uber founder and CEO Travis Kalanick.

Ok, data centers would be a runaway winner for the 2026 NIMBY award. But would you, could you accept it offshore? Dallas-based Mousterian Corporation and Samsung Heavy Industries think you would. They have a partnership agreement for floating data centers, including one off the coast of Texas. 

American Airlines and Infinium announced the first commercial airport delivery and in-flight use of electro sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF), marking a major milestone in the de-carbonization of aviation. An American flight departed Corpus Christi and landed at D-FW International Airport, demonstrating the real-world deployment of next-generation, drop-in sustainable aviation fuel.

Delightful Development and Woodbine Development announced a three-acre project anchored by a $160M luxury resort at the northeast corner of Main and 23rd Street in the Stockyards. The development includes 225 rooms and suites across two independently positioned luxury hotels sharing a subterranean parking garage. The project will feature green space, an entertainment area, pool and cabanas, meeting space, event barn, restaurants, retail shops, spa and more.

General Motors and China's Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation extended their 50-50 joint venture for electric vehicles through 2047. The partnership will produce at least 30 new-energy models by 2030, using Chinese-developed platforms and software. China will be GM's engineering and export hub for shipping Buick and Cadillac models.

Texas' historic settlement agreement over de-transitioning with Texas Children’s Hospital has been executed. Texas Children’s will pay $10 million to resolve claims, with $8,576,000 going to the state. Additionally, a de-transition clinic must be opened by the end of October.

Struggling Ridgmar Mall, once the home of the top fashion and retail stores in Tarrant, has been purchased and will become a logistics center. Ramrock Real Estate, a Dallas-based private equity firm led by Robert Dozier with more than $2 billion in assets, acquired the mall and has plans for the Ridgmar 30 Logistics Crossing, a six-building development of about 931,000 square feet. The mall, which opened in 1976, has a Dillard’s outlet store, a Cinemark Rave movie theater, a JCPenney that is holding a closing store sale with up to 50% off, and other small businesses. 

Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation is launching Project SEEN (Strengthen, Engage, Empower and Navigate) — a suicide prevention framework developed by the foundation. A federal lawsuit is seeking to block Texas’ regulations on hemp-derived THC, which took effect last week. The plaintiffs claim the state regulations are pre-empted by the 2018 Farm Bill, in which Congress legalized hemp by removing it from the Controlled Substances Act.

Joshua David Sappi Biering, a former Fort Worth private banker who managed roughly $1 billion in client assets, is pushing for damages after winning changes to a disputed JPMorgan termination record. Biering says the firing cost him clients, revenue and a planned move to Merrill Lynch. He is asking a federal court to consider employment claims that were not resolved in an earlier arbitration.

• Six Flags released its second-quarter results and you can look at them two ways. The bad: Key numbers were down. The good: Fewer parks are open and the per park comparison numbers were positive.

• Southlake-based Sabre reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $712 million, up 4% from prior-year, and operating income of $93 million, up 4%. Net loss attributable to common stockholders was $36 million. It exceeded second-quarter guidance for revenue, Pro Forma Adjusted EBITDA and air distribution bookings, and raised its 2026 guidance for Pro Forma Adjusted EBITDA and Free Cash Flow, while reaffirming full-year guidance for revenue and air distribution bookings.

• SpaceX's inaugural public-company earnings report exceeded bullish expectations, prompting analysts to raise forecasts. The Elon Musk-led company reported second-quarter revenue of $7.81 billion, up 92% from a year earlier. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization totaled $3.5 billion. Starlink generated $1.66 billion and the AI infrastructure business posted explosive growth despite massive investment.
