Capital Square, a sponsor of tax-advantaged real estate investments, acquired a 99-year ground lease beneath Le Méridien, a luxury hotel in downtown Fort Worth. The lease has 95 years remaining and was acquired on behalf of CS1031 Zero Coupon DFW Hospitality, DST.

The Army awarded Lockheed Martin a $9.8-billion contract for the production of 1,970 Patriot Advanced Capability – 3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors and associated hardware. It is the largest contract in Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control history.

North Texas Congressman Roger Williams, Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, introduced legislation that will extend the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs -- set to expire September 30 -- for one year. The extension would be a boon to innovators and entrepreneurs that are dependent on federal grants to test and launch their ideas.

Tarrant County commissioners did not approve the final property tax rate, but voted to advance it in a 3-2 vote along party lines. The proposed tax rate is 18.62 cents per $100 valuation. The average home in Tarrant County — with a taxable value of about $277,000 — is expected to be about $516 a year. That’s a few dollars lower than last year. 

President Trump will sign an executive order on Friday renaming the Department of Defense the Department of War, the White House said, fulfilling his pledge to realign the military’s mission by restoring the name the agency held until shortly after World War II.

Significant stat: General Motors has reached a notable milestone, selling more than 21,000 electric vehicles in August. This achievement surpasses its previous record of 19,000 units sold in July. The increase is largely attributed to strong consumer demand for standout models such as the Chevy Equinox and Cadillac LYRIQ. Concurrently, GM's strategic expansion of its EV-charging infrastructure is playing a crucial role in this growth.
