Starbucks holds ~$2 billion in the form of money people keep in its app or on gift cards. It earns ~$200 million/year from customers who never spend those funds. The company also benefits from "float," which is the time between a customer loading money onto a card and actually spending it.

Bloomberg News reported PE firms Blackstone and Fort Worth-based TPG are in late-stage talks to acquire Hologic in a transaction that could value the cancer test maker at more than $17B, including debt.

Gateway Church and its founding pastor, Robert Morris, are facing allegations regarding federal racketeering laws. Among other things, plaintiffs say mail fraud and wire fraud were committed by "falsely representing that 15 percent of all tithe dollars would be distributed to global missions and Jewish ministry partners" and by claiming that people who tithed could receive a return of their funds.

Despite limited geographic reason, a Judge ordered that X and xAI’s lawsuit accusing Apple and OpenAI of trying to maintain monopolies in artificial intelligence be held in Fort Worth. But, there was a caveat: Judge Mark Pittman, in a sharply ironic four-page order, encouraged the companies to relocate their headquarters to Fort Worth, given their preference for the antitrust lawsuit to be heard there.

The Fort Worth Report says Tarrant County College has put the TXU plant north of downtown on the market as Fort Worth’s Panther Island re-development starts.

Fort Worth Fire Chief Jim Davis resigned after having been placed on administrative leave the past month, the city announced. The resignation takes effect Oct. 31, ending his lead role since 2018. Raymond Hill, an assistant chief, will remain interim Chief.

Lockheed Martin company Sikorsky says its new S70 UHawk is a Black Hawk without the pilot. “Basically ...we have taken a Black Hawk, and using our MATRIX autonomy system, have turned this aircraft into a UAS (unmanned airship),” said Erskine Bentley, director of strategy and business development for Sikorsky Advanced Programs.
